"A goal is a dream with a deadline" - Napoleon Hill.

Welcome to the last quarter of the year (2016), time really does fly. I cannot believe its November already. Good thing about this is that it is a time to reset. A time to plan ahead. A time for a new beginning in 2017.
At the beginning of the year, it is common for people to make new year resolutions. However, a couple of weeks or months after, these resolutions are quickly forgotten and at the end of the year you are exactly where you started off. A major reason for this is that resolutions are easily forgotten because they lack time frame for execution. What then is the difference between a goal and a resolution?.

For example, a resolution is - "I will lose weight in 2016" however a goal is "I will lose 15kg by the 30th of November 2016.

So here are 5 financial goals we need to set in life.

PAY YOURSELF FIRST

If you don't have savings, this is a good time to start. The key thing is to save before you spend. Create a budget to determine how much you have available for savings. You may thinks that you don’t earn enough and that when you earn more you would start saving. Well the thing is that if you can’t save when you have little you won’t be able to save when you have alot. It is also important to create an emergency fund.

PAY OFF YOUR DEBT

If you are in debt, its important to be determined to be debt free or to start working towards paying off your debt before the end of 2016. Being in debt is like carrying a heavy luggage on a long journey. Whilst you may reach your destination, debt hinders your progress and may delay the process significantly. No matter how large your debt is, you can pay it off. The key thing is to start and to start small and build up.

Learning and earning, a subject many students ponder on its possibilities. Most of them are advised against by parents who of course mean well but fail to see its possibilities. Why deny someone the opportunity to gain an experience? This is said considering the risk of a decline in academic performance. With proper advice, all things can be achieved. Self-discovery is the most important factor to successfully learn and earn. Most people read up to eight hours to understand a work others use just two hours to. This shows that abilities differ given certain circumstances. As such, it is proper to know where you fall in.
There are people who work to take care of themselves while in school. For this to be realized, proper time management has to be developed. To run a small scale business while in school, you need to know when to be at particular places, when to read, and when to do other things. It is advised you play a managerial role instead of a functional party in the business, i.e. you need to hire a skilled person to manage it for you. In my opinion, as soon as one leaves secondary school, his/her life begins. You are now responsible for various actions of your life. Skills acquisition is essential in this time we live in.
Moreover, the experience that will be amassed while learning and earning will be invaluable. As a young person, you need something you can fall back to if your educational training doesn’t work well. Millions of people graduate every year, some with better qualifications than you. What you can offer(skills) separates you from them. In conclusion, it is very possible to learn and earn. I recommend every student to have a little means of income but never at the expense of your academics. Remember, you are responsible for your failure or success in life.

If you were to be asked to give a thousand Naira to a fifteen year old or a two year old, i assume you will feel much obliged to give it to the fifteen year old, not that he can do something meaningful with it but he is better off handling it over the two year. As such despite all the knowledge one can amass if you do not have the right CHARACTER to back it up, that knowledge could be misplace.

Character may be defined as "a distinguishing feature; a complex of mental and ethical traits marking a person or a group. Think about it , would GOD give a child of His what he can not handle? You have to prove to GOD that this wealth you aim for, the good living or whatever drives you to be successful can be handled by you.
I charge you you to be self discipline. The seemingly little things could matter more than you think. That out burst of anger, that weakness for food, females and etc. These things need to tamed and brought under subjection, you can control your flesh. Imagine you own a restaurant and your reception has temper, I can tell you that your business is on the verge of collapse because of an employee's weakness. Life leaves no chance for the weak, whatever loose parts of your life needs to be tied up.

Even JESUS CHRIST claimed he was not ready for a long time, took thirty years to prepare for a three year work that has left its mark two-thousand years now. That says now that we have the chance, lets work on ourselves.
More so, i have always said that its possible to call someone an idiot and the person to not feel insulted, words have an amazing way of being structured close to perfection. Learn how to talk: when to talk and what to say in every given situation. Education trains the mind to think, it isn't about learning concepts (Einstein). Therefore take education seriously.

In conclusion, i would like to emphasize on humility when learning, a wise man said there are two types of ignorant people, those who know they are wrong but refuse to change, and those who do not know at all the errors of their ways. Both very deadly but urge you reading this piece, you fall it and fright it: i say this because no one ever learns completely growth occurs everyday.
Finally, why are all these necessary? You might desire respect and recognition or acknowledgement from people, irrelevant but it might exist in your heart.
Prove to the world why you should be respected and no better way than to act it. A wise man said giving a man gold without character is like giving money to dogs, they have no way of taking care of it. Grow mentally, emotionally, financially and spiritually you need it. That's what seperates the best from the rest.

The importance of a healthy mind cannot be overemphasized, you become what you think.
The mind is a very powerful tool which controls our feelings, emotions, thinking, perception, leading to our actions and decisions.
Henry Ford said "thinking is the hardest job there is, which is probably the reason why so few engage in it". Everyone wants to be successful but most fail to think, instead they let their desire for success consume them. There is a price for everything, for success, it is your ability to think big and work smart. People who work hard put in much effort to achieve set goals. Smart people think first before working, they apply less effort to achieve goals under a short period of time compared to hard workers. To think outside the box, you must leave your comfort zone and start doing those things you are not used to.
This sharpens the mind, giving you different angles to a particular idea.
People fail not because they make mistakes, they fail because they don’t correct them.
“Being broke is a temporary state, being poor has to do with the mind”. Failure is not a result of multiple mistakes, it is due to an unhealthy (shallow, scared) mindset. Thomas Edison made over 1000 attempts at inventing the light bulb. When a reporter asked, "How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?" Edison replied, "I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps."
Every system has an energy source which fuels it, for the mind, it is knowledge. This is the fuel that keeps the mind running effectively, the mind starts dying gradually when you stop learning new things.
Shallow thinking leads to self-limitation, loss of confidence and self-belief. Great innovators are big thinkers because they see possibilities and solutions when others see problems and a dead end.
The mind is an important gift given to us by God. Listed below are ways to develop a healthy mind

SELF BELIEF

Most people have a pre-programmed mindset that nothing good can come out from them, hereby failing even before starting a project. Believing in yourself builds your confidence, increases your reasoning ability and enables you see possibilities where others see impossibilities. Impossible is nothing only if you believe in yourself.

BE OPTIMISTIC

Being hopeful about the future goes a long way in mind-development. You see a positive result even when passing through a challenge, giving you the courage to continue.
Always think about your good points, it builds your self-image and confidence. If you are good in business, tell yourself that all the time. People around you should not make you feel inferior or useless. The first antibiotics Penicillin was discovered from a mold which cannot be compared to you.

AVOID BAD COMPANY

The close friends you keep play a role in your development as a person. Most friends always see the bad in every idea you share which in turn leads to demoralization.
Staying around shallow minded people destroys your ability to think big, learn new things and on a long run, shatters self-confidence.

SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Teaching is the best form of learning. You understand better when you share your knowledge with people around. If you are a programmer, teach someone programming, good in mathematics? teach it to your friends. This way, you see that area from different angles, learn new things hereby deepening your understanding on that particular area.

READ ABOUT SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE

There are two ways to learn: learning from others (mentors) and learning from past experiences (mistakes). Most people feel experience is the best teacher. No, you could also learn from other people without actually passing through the pains of learning from experience. Mike Murdock bought a book for $84, a young man said “I cannot believe you bought a book for $84”, his reply was impressive “Son, I did not. I bought a man’s life. What took him 70 years to learn, I will know in two hours.” Learning about their principles, mistakes, angle of reasoning provide you with a guide tool towards achieving your dreams.

STUDY

"You cannot give what you do not have", always exercise your mind by studying new things. Try to engage yourself in games (scrabble, chess, puzzle and other mind developing games), math’s solving and so on. Content filtering is an important learning tool because what you take in guarantees what you give out. Always sieve out anything that will affect you negatively and take in those that will add to you positively. The wisest mind has something yet to learn.

What defines an Elite Performer isn't how they show up when everything is going well. It’s the way they deliver when their best laid plans are falling apart. Peak productivity is less about luck, and more about intention and awareness. Regardless of your current situation, what business you’re in or what your goals are, productivity is crucial to improved results.
One of my favorite definitions of productivity: The use of your time, energy, intelligence, resources and opportunities in a manner calculated to move you measurably closer to your goals. In a time of constant movement, constant communication and continual achievement, the long list of to-dos makes us feel like we're never ahead. It seems like our days are controlling us versus us taking control of our days.
Here are six of my favorite tactics for dramatically increasing your productivity. Don’t try to put these into practice all at once. Rather, pick and choose the ones you believe will make the biggest difference in your business right away.

1. Simplicity.

In order to really thrive in entrepreneurship and business you must learn to shift from complexity to simplicity. When you get rid of all the noise in your head and focus on the few activities that matter most you’ll gain a new sense of awareness and motivation.  Most of the things you do in your business don’t accelerate growth—they just ‘maintain’ at best. Don’t try to be great at fifty things. Be obsessed about the few things that can really move your business forward. You’re a lot more productive when you’re doing your highest value activities in uninterrupted blocks of time.

2. Scheduling everything.

“ The more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war.”
The “trick” to productivity is deciding what you will work on at some point other than in the moment, and then to practicing that high-value work over and over until it’s natural, habitual and automatic. Here are my favorite questions to ask myself before I start my week.
What did I complete last week?
Did I focus on the 20 percent that creates 80 percent of results?
What must get done, no matter what, to solidify a successful week?
What are the rituals and routines I’m committed to that aren’t negotiable?
Who do I need to reach out to this week to elevate my thinking and move my business forward?
Make sure your commitments are intentional and strategic. Tie them to your monthly and yearly outcomes. The goal here is to invest your past experience into your future preparation.

3. Sell yourself.

The reason most people can’t focus consistently is because they haven't actually sold themselves on the task at hand or the goal they are trying to accomplish. By sold, I mean they have cut out the alternative. They know the importance of what they are doing and the purpose and ideal outcome they are seeking to attain. If you procrastinate, then you haven’t sold yourself on your goal or task yet. Don’t get yourself involved unless you are sold on the activity and its purpose in moving you forward.

4. Seize the day.

“How you spend your days is the greatest measure of who you're becoming.”
Start your day powerful. Focus at the start of each day on getting into a highly resourceful mental state so you can think better, act better and feel better, which in turn will help you make better and more productive decisions.
It’s not the hours you put in, it’s the work you put in the hours that count. Big shifts will happen for you when you stop checking email and messages first thing, and instead invest the first hour in exercise, personal growth and finding your agenda instead of letting others control your agenda. If you don't have a plan to interrupt interruptions then your plans will always be interrupted.

5. Strict deliberate practice.

The more you practice what you know, the better you get. There's the state of passively knowing something and then there's the level of performance you attain when you consistently practice what you know. Professional basketball players know how to shoot a free-throw, but they still shoot them every day, over and over again, because they are committed to reaching a higher level of performance.
Practice what you know consistently and you’ll build your muscle memory. Practice relentlessly and the time will come when you perform swiftly, elegantly and unconsciously. The same applies to your productivity. Practice doing work that matters. Practice sitting in one place for many hours focused on a single result. Practice running rituals and elite performance routines that will lift you up into the realm of world-class

6. Staying intentional.

Your vision, not your current circumstances or emotions, guide you. Set intentions that inspire you to stay focused and not procrastinate. Make sure they’re congruent with your clearly defined goals. Activities without purpose drain wealth and prosperity.
Create what I call the “One Page Productivity Planner” where you put your vision statement, top five goals for the year and your biggest reasons onto one page. The greatest wisdom of all time is in astutely choosing what not to do with your time. Your one-page document helps you stay focused on what's most important. Don’t be a slave to your phone. Design everything around the lifestyle you want, not for the convenience of other people.

"If you want to be a successful entrepreneur, don't chase the money," says Tomas Gorny, a serial entrepreneur who promotes the idea that the creation of great things is more important than the accumulation of wealth.
Gorny came to that realization the hard way, after growing up in poverty in Poland, immigrating to the United States in his late teens, joining a startup, making millions and then losing it all and starting over again.
Gorny’s rags-to-riches story repeated itself twice until he co-founded his current company, Nextiva, a cloud-based communications provider based in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he now oversees more than 500 employees. I had the pleasure of speaking with him by email about the four business lessons he said he'd learned over a lifetime as an entrepreneur:

1. Don’t underestimate people based on their appearance or speech.

Early in his career, Gorny said, he experienced a lack of respect in business because of his Eastern European accent. “I was perceived as this stupid and young Polish guy,” Gorny told Sramana Mitra in an interview with the One Million by One Million Blog. Rather than let prejudicial comments stop him, he worked harder and gained the favor of vendors and business partners.
Before long, he was respected throughout his industry. “I was able to land some of the best deals of my life,” he said.
Gorny says he learned from those experiences to never underestimate anybody in life because of looks, demeanor, accent or dress. Today when he thinks about hiring someone, he looks at the character of the person, his or her attitude, skill level and potential cultural fit.

2. Don’t be afraid to fail.

One of Gorny’s first companies was a PC distribution business he launched in Germany as a 17-year-old. He sold it in 1996 to earn the money to immigrate to the United States but had enough money to survive for only six to eight months. He joined a startup, lived on just $3 per day and scraped together money for his business by taking odd jobs like catering and valet parking. With long hours and hard work, he saw his business became successful, and he sold it in 1998.
With that infusion of cash, Gorny invested in a variety of real estate ventures but lost nearly all of his fortune when the tech bubble burst. Five years after arriving in this country., he was right back where he'd started. Yet this setback didn’t discourage him; he only worked harder to succeed. With roughly $6,000 left in his life savings, he launched a web-hosting company and built it into the second-largest business in its industry

3. Approach everything from the customer’s perspective.

Customers are an entrepreneur’s best teacher. A business that can deliver quality products that solve a customer’s problems will become invaluable, and referrals will result. As a business owner, you'll be smart to adopt your customers' mindset: What problems are they struggling with, and how can you make their lives easier? Gorny recommends soliciting customer feedback rather than assuming your solution is the right one.
Gorny learned the value of trusting the needs of customers in his early business days when he first visited the United States. He needed a new pair of shoes, so he walked into a store and saw a two-for-one sale. Even though he didn’t need two pairs, the marketing and product-packaging concept stuck with him as something that attracted customers in America. This experience shaped his approach to business moving forward.

4. Focus on building your business -- forget about money and an exit strategy.

The process of succeeding and failing and succeeding again has taught Gorny not to focus on money. “When I lost my money [during the dotcom bust], I recognized that to succeed, I needed to focus on providing value to customers, not on how much money we could bring in,” he says. “I now live by that principle, and it has served my companies and me well.”
Similarly, Gorny believes that taking outside capital to build a business can be shortsighted because it forces entrepreneurs to focus on their exit strategy rather than on business growth. “While I feel that some businesses need venture capital, my personal preference is to not have investors,” he says. “I believe that business owners and entrepreneurs should focus on building their businesses an exit strategy."
However, he cautions, "If you are solely focused on your exit strategy, you may forget to build your business. If you focus on building your business, the outcome is often much better than you could have envisioned it.”
Bottom line: It can be easy for entrepreneurs to get caught up in the game of raising capital, perfecting an exit strategy and selling a company to the highest bidder, but this approach is shortsighted. As Gorny’s personal story proves, it is better to focus on the product and the service than the money. Creation is greater than accumulation.

“Lost time is never again found” those are the words of Benjamin Franklin. The essence of time itself cannot be over emphasized because every minute you lose you pay for it in the nearest future. Successful people must understand the essentiality of time and learn to skillfully manage it to achieve their set goals and objectives.Every organization that intend to be successful must be dedicated to time management with a 101% focus on the objective of the job, pushing aside distractions and excuses.
Often busy owners and entrepreneurs nag and complain of not having enough time and use this as an excuse for their failure or inability to deliver. The truth is that no business ever has enough time, those that succeeded built and developed their time management skills to suit them and they chased their objectives with laser focus on time consciousness.

YOU ARE NOT THE BOSS OF TIME:
You maybe the CEO of the largest company in the world but you are not the CEO of time; you must learn to respect time with the consciousness that every second you waste is gone forever. You work in respect to time in other to achieve set goals. After research and observations, it was discovered that they are the most effective factors required to maximize time.

1. PRIORITIZE
This is a very useful skill in time management. Make a conclusive list of your objective, find out which is important and which is more important. Draw a scale of preference containing mapped out plans, with the more pressing coming first while the less pressing later, having a consciousness of time, with laser focus on the objective, losing every form of distraction.
Failure to prioritize will always make work look ambiguous and overwhelming, that thought alone can generate stress and reduce your efficiency. You will always be behind schedule and this will drastically affect the integrity of your company.

2. SET A DEADLINE
This is one factor that distinguishes the learners from professionals. Successful individuals
pursue their goals and objectives with the consciousness of a “time limit”.
Set deadlines and make an executive decision not to push them forward, rather

Every person desire to make cool cash without breaking a sweet, but in the world of today that is mostly not happening. Some have to do jobs they hate just to make that extra cash and keep going. Statistic from Forbes shows that “Unhappy Employees Outnumber Happy Ones by Two to One Worldwide (October 2013)”.
So how do you make that extra box from your comfort zone?
Every human being has a hobby; something that adds that sparkles to your life and makes your happy. Some of these hobbies can be monetized on the long run as long as you understand the “HOW” of monetizing those hobbies. Without further ado, I’ll move to the “HOW” of monetizing those hobbies.

1.       Understanding Your Potentials:

You must learn to view every passion as a gift or potential; some people are passionate in writing, some in singing, and some in swimming, others in talking. Your view about those hobbies must change and your must begin to view them as potentials.

2.       Articulate Those Potentials:

The next step is penning down those potential, those thing you can do even if you are paid or rewarded. By penning them down it becomes easy to understand which and which can be monetized. And those that are not easily monetized can be ruled out of the list.
Then you can decide which you do best and which is more comfortable for you as an individual.

3.       Improve On It:

It is not just enough to pen down you potentials, you must now work on yourself to improve on it. You need to start taking classes and training to improve that potential in order to stand out in the crowd. Read books, watch videos and attend seminar on developing that potential, also conductor individual research to improve you.

4.       Marketing It

This is one complex part for some people; the inability to present their money making ideas to the world. Look for a problem that potential of yours can solve or an innovation it can bring, also tell people about it and find out how it can help people grow or benefit from that hobby.

"One of the principles of making money is not focus on money but on the value you can add to the society at large." -GODWIN JIMMY

1.In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.
2.Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.

3.You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.

4.I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live by the light that I have. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong.

it can also house shoes and clothing you rarely wear.

2. “To remove watermarks from leather boots, add a few
drops of vinegar to a bowl of cool water and scrub the stains
with a soft bristle brush until stains are no longer visible. Let
dry overnight.”

3. To stop squeaky shoes, remove the insole and apply

We've kept on wondering the “what” and “how” of
Human resource development now we hope to treat both.
WHAT?
Human resource development is the process of equipping individuals with the understanding, skill and access to information, knowledge and training(physical and mental) that
enables them to perform effectively. that is training an individual to maximise his/her potential and producing
efficiency in the society.

There's a mindshift going on in the small-business
community. Owners are finally coming out of survival

More small-business owners have plans to hire now
